North Strathfield

A large contemporary addition attached to an existing period home. The proposal incorporates cutting edge design principles with clean lines and natural light including sustainable design principles. The proposed addition includes open style living, dining, kitchen and a large bathroom with outdoor alfresco dining. The client brief also includes internal refurbishment of the existing period home to meet today’s standards.

The proposed works have been designed to capture sunlight and warmth in the winter months and the deep northern eave overhang will keep the heat away from the habitable areas in summer. Sustainable design principles were addressed by providing sustainable glass to all windows and doors. The design of the proposed addition received a high star rating in the BASIX assessment.

The highlight of the design is the large open living areas opening onto the north facing private open landscape garden. The cutting-edge design was well received by the client.
